Albicans seed pod

This is the earlier mentioned species cross pod on Albicans.
Interesting to me was the way the spathe clasps the pod as
it dries.
My suspicion is this is done by Albicans to provide a moisture
seal and retard pod rot/vermin attack as a survival strategy.
I have not noticed other bearded irises doing this. Many may.
