Chuck,
I thought you might be interested in particular, considering your
interest in genetics of color. I've noticed an interesting possible
linkage of beard color and flower color in the 29 Kupari X suaveolens
rubromarginata seedlings. Every amoena seedling is yellow bearded;
some are more pale (but still definitely yellow) and one even has
dark, orange beard down in the throat. In contrast, the beard color
of the purple seedlings ranges from dark blue/purple to white. None
of these purple seedlings has any visible yellow pigment. It doesn't
appear that it is being masked by the blue/purple, since none of the
lighter blue/purple or even white bearded seedlings show any trace of
yellow.
