Re: summer is here!

Always enjoy the weather related posts.  Funny how definitions vary from place to place.  For me spring is here when the weather is finally getting into the seventies (it's late this year, it's only been above 70 a few times here this year (it's about 78F right now), and it never even hit 70 in February (usually does).  Anyway, spring is here now too.  Should start hitting the 90's for the first few times sometime in May (hopefully it'll be June this year) - that's when summer starts!

Dandelions bloom all winter (not so much in "summer" - May through September).  Had a light frost in the river valley last night.

Subject: [iris-species] summer is here!

Where did spring go?  So far this week temps have been consistently hitting
the 70's.  Needless to say that has accelerated everything.  Irises are
greening up fast & furious and far outpacing the weeds.  While mowing the
grass today I found a large mystery patch of irises in one of my bogs.  I'm
hoping that it's Iris prismatica which was once planted there and never
seen again.  They have outgrown the bog and are into the yard now too.

Daffodils are in full bloom.  Muscaris are just starting.  Tulips are not
far behind.  Bearded irises should start sending up buds any day now.

PS:  Dandelions have been blooming since January.  Grrrr!
