Looks like a Robber Fly to me, but I didn't verify by looking it up in a
text. Robber Flies resemble giant mosquitoes a bit, and they are indeed
blood suckers, but they generally catch other critters, mostly flying insects
that they mostly grab right out of the air on the fly, then suck them
dry). Looks like a rather small one; they are often well over 1 inch long;
there are lots of species.
