from the yahoo hellebore group

I'm just a run-of-the-mill gardener-Connecticut zone 6.  I can grow
successfully only the easiest of plants.  I was totally frustrated by
six years of planting Hellebores from seed(courtesy this group).  I'd
always get several seedings, but they did not thrive. Five years ago I
bought a plant at the local nursery.  That one, too, just sat for
years.  Yesterday, I went outside to examine the daffodils, squill,
and snowdrops. WOW, I couldn't believe my eyes!  My store-bought
Lenten Rose was in bloom.  I have never seen a hellebore in person -
only in books and web photos.  I cried.
