Dennis, Nelsonii gets it's long anthers from I. fulva. Those are the only two I know of. I wonder if its an adaptation to a pollinator, humming birds perhaps. I see hummers working the LAs every season. Dan, I do water and try to keep, at it at least moist. As a denizen the deep swamps, Nelsonii would prefer a lot more water. I'm not sure just how dry it will survive. As for pollen, there is a lot. I've selfed it trying for seed for the exchange, it but never used it in a cross, but it is the source of red in most of the Louisiana Iris hybrids.
