Re: Iris cristata

Sounds lovely there, Anner.

Still no sign of my cristata that was doing so well last year, with 7 increases.  None of my ferns nor "regular" garden peonies have appeared as yet, but 2 itoh peonies are up way too early, as is my fernleaf peony, new last year.  The species crocus are finished already, because of 2 early morning frosts, but the giant crocus, scilla and pushkinia are blooming their heads off.  My daffodils are just starting to poke through, plus various tulips that the rabbits have already liberally chewed.  Well, better them than any more of my iris!

With the nice weather, and a bit of rain, many iris are suddenly shooting up.  Some of the MDB's even look like they're setting buds.  yesssss

My cristata alba bloomed yesterday in UDA Zone 7 Virginia. I should have white tectorum in bloom tomorrow.

Also in bloom today, Roses Jaune Desprez, Madame Alfred Carriere, Shailer's Provence, Gruss an Aachen; Viola labradorica, V. dissecta sieboldiana; Convallaria majalis, C. magalis rosea, C. magalis striata, magalis flore-plena; Aquilegia flabellata nana alba; Fragaria vesca 'Mignonette' from seed from Renee's Garden; Narcissus jonquilla simplex; Polygonatum humile; Various epimediums; biennial wallflowers from a pack of T&M "Fair Lady" seed. Peony 'Festiva Maxima' buds swelling. Helleborus and camellias finishing up now. Ferns especially lovely this season.

No germination on my SIGNA seeds yet. I'm expecting it to be another season for most.

Happy Spring.

I have one little clump of it left, but can't find any sign of it as yet.  Now that we've had a nice rain and a few sunny days, I'll go check on it again.

Well the sad thing is that I've pretty much killed every cristata I've tried to grow, so I didn't buy any of those pots.  (That's not entirely true, I have a couple survivors hanging on in one small spot... but I really have killed dozens of cristatas in my time!)
