Shaub,

Thanks for your e-mail re: Iris hexagona at Plant Delights Nursery.

As to the provenance of our I. hexagona offering: All of our Iris hexagona are produced from divisions of our garden specimens. We originally received our specimens from Eco Gardens in Decatur, GA sometime prior to 2002. I do not know of any other sources of this species.

Iris hexagona was in our catalog as recently as 2012, but we do not currently have it in production. However, it is a plant that we sell periodically and will likely have again in the future. It is not on our production schedule right now, but we are a small nursery and those things change frequently and rapidly. So stay tuned!

We have a dedicated Iris web page that lists all of our Irises for sale.

We also keep separate pages for Belamcanda, Pardanthopsis, and xPardancanda because lots of shoppers still consider them separate from Iris.

and we have a general irid page as well

Feel free to bookmark them and check them frequently. We have 2 major website changes (January and August) that correspond to our spring and fall catalog releases, but we are always adding small crops and special releases to the website at odd intervals, so you never know when something cool might show up.

If you want to stay abreast of the newest plants, we maintain a 'new releases' web page at:

http://www.plantdelights.com/New-Plants-on-the-Website/products/1037/

and we also have an e-newsletter that you can sign up for where we mention new releases and other exciting stuff.

BTW:

We are in the process of updating our website and we plan on adding a plant wish list feature for plants that are out of production. That way we can be more responsive to our customers and if a particular plant 'wished for' a lot, we will be aware of it and put it into production. We have a tentative summer release for this feature. So when this happens, make sure that you come back and click the Iris hexagona wish list button to cast your vote!

Please feel free to e-mail at any time with any other questions that you may have.

Regards,

Dennis Carey
