Silphium perfoliatum is an aggressive native that outcompetes *EVERYTHING* in my garden.  But because it's native, I don't call it invasive.  I just call it thuggish.  It overtook my poorly built flagstone patio and the finches are a delight all winter long feeding off the plentiful seeds.

but about 500x as many plants in my yard.  LOL.

The stems make a phenomenal mulch source every spring.  No doubt with some seeds hitchhiking... which is how it dispersed through my property so quickly.  Sigh.
