HAHAHA!  I have that problem with some indoor houseplants!  I recycled some potting mix from seedling pots because the seeds never germinated.  I planted some African violets & stuff like that.  A few months later all these (Louisiana?) irises started sprouting!!  Some of them are HUGE now.  And I discarded all the tags identifying them.  *grumble*
