Ixia, Freesia, and Xiphiums

 

I'm trying some new irises & irids in my garden this year. I bought some Ixia hybrids, Freesia hybrids, and Xiphium hybrids.

I'll try the irids in netted baskets (like used in ponds) in my regular flower beds to make it easier to lift them in autumn for winter storage. The corms seem small. The netted baskets should work perfectly.

I'll try to grow the Xiphiums permanently outdoors. I've never managed to keep those alive for very long. I think summer rain is the problem more than winter cold.
