RE: spec-x with Chinenses series species?

I'm just guessing here, by what seems most closely related to what.  And what I think is related to what may sometimes be a bit unconventional by traditional standards [this all does seem to jive fairly well with recent molecular studies though].

I kind'a suspect that I. speculatrix is actually a Spuria, and not closely related to others in series Chinenses at all.  I'll bet it will cross with other Spurias or perhaps I. foetidissima much more easily that with anything else.  I suspect it will not cross with other Chinenses, but it never hurts to try.

A shot in the dark here, but I think the series Chinenses (minus I. speculatrix) are likely most closely related to I. gracilipes, tenuis, and missouriensis, and these might make good candidates for crossing.  Perhaps I. cristata and lacustris are related too, but that may be a stretch.  These all seem to be "primitive" beardless Iri! ses, but not related to other crested Iris at all.  I expect that any attempts to cross Chinenses members with any other crested Iris will be unlikely to give any offspring (???).  As far as Chinenses with Chinenses - seems like it aught to work, if they really are related to one-another (??)

I'm wondering if anyone has tried a crested Iris with a Pardanthus or Belamcanda?  It would seem they are perhaps moderately closely related (except for I. cristata and I. lacustris, which are apparently not related to any of them).

Subject: [iris-species] spec-x with Chinenses series species?

Are there any known hybrids within the Chinenses series?  Or any wider hybrids involving a Chinenses series species?

I've got I. koreana in bloom and wondering if it might cross with tectorum or cristata or something.  Unfortunately I don't have pollen from those so I'm going to try 'Satan's Mistress' pollen.  :-)
