Well, Kathleen, it’s worth trying.

I experimented with storing and germinating Pacific Coast Iris hybrid seeds from 2007.

I have them stored at room temperature in a paper envelope and in a plastic ziploc. The ones in the fridge and the freezer are in plastic ziplocs.

Then I used three methods to germinate them - unsoaked, soaked four days, and put in a sock which I tied into the toilet tank for a week.

Unsoaked seeds did not germinate well.  Soaked ones did OK, and the toilet tank ones did the best.

That reminds me - it is time to germinate another set.
