Re: Iris sintenisii v brandzae

Jim & others,
I got seeds of this from NARGS a couple of years ago; is that the source the rest of you have used?  I'm just wondering about its provenance & authenticity.

Also known as just I. brandzae, this is a small spuria. Not difficult to grow, but harder to get. My single small plant over 3 or 4 years is now 5 small clumps. The foliage is strongly erect, extremely thin and grassy. Beware at weeding! Blue-violet blooms in spring are on very thin pedicels that may drop to ground level, but then turn and bloom upright. Flowers are somewhat similar to other dwarf spurias. Mine is totally hardy in Zone 5, and grows in light shade, sunnier in late afternoon. We get spring rain and hot,dry summers.

A collector's plant that is not showy in bloom or foliage.
