RE: Plant Markers

We started making the legs from stainless because no one else did, at the time. The galvanized legs we were buying would rust up to the top of the legs in about a year and looked pretty ugly in our gardens. I'm not sure how long stainless lasts but I have one marker that I dated to test the Brother Label system that we use for printed labels. I put the marker in the ground, facing south, June 24, 2000. The label is still readable and the legs are perfect. I think the stainless will outlive me...

Subject: [iris-species] Plant Markers

Some time back, I had some plant markers but the legs slowly rusted away.  I see that Iris City Gardens has plant markers with stainless steel legs that are not supposed to rust.  Has anyone used these before?  If so, how did they hold up?  These would be used for Daylilies mostly.  I currently use some plastic tags that get very brittle.  I could write the name of the Iris on the no drain tubs where I have some Irises.
