Found the following in the AIS Bulletin online archives. Plus other sources
'Golden Bow’ ( H. P. Sass, R. 1935) IB. Early bloom. Color Class-Y4D. Sass-J. 1935; Patttison 1936. Iris Lutescens. Lamarek X TB]. 1935 April AIS Bulletin Pg. 67 To take the yellows in the order of their yellowness, we must begin with the richest and finest yellow yet shown in any iris I have ever sighted, Hans Sass' intermediate, Golden Bow. I had not believed that a more brilliant yellow was possible or likely in an iris than that of Crysoro but Golden Bow is richer and more glowing and with a remarkable heavy, velvety substance. A slight undertone of brown was detected by some observers which they believed gave it its richness of color. This is a stunning bit of color. 1937 April AIS Bulletin Pg. 41 (Alice Whiting notes circa early May 1937) GOLDEN BOW (R. p~ Sass '35)-Striking a~d effective with Gentius. Excellent form with a smooth velvety finish (Ia.). 1937 Sept AIS Bulletin Pg. 6 When we returned home we found the iris season just opening. Gentius, Cosette and Golden Bow made a beautiful early group, 1938 April AIS Bulletin Pg. 70 (Gersdorff notes) Golden Bow, a deep yellow extra early intermediate, about the best of the deep yellows in this type; John __________________ John and Joanne Jones Registrar-Recorders, American Iris Society a*@irises.org Director, American Iris Society 35572 Linda Drive Fremont, CA 94536 |
