Re: Germination Guide

I use the Ontario Rock Garden Club seed information, plus two others:

The first is a seedhouse from Ontario, Gardens North.  Kristl Walek, 
the owner, experiments to find the best way to grow all the seeds she 
sells, and the specific information is on each seed package.  She is 
offering seeds from Janis Ruksans this year:  Iris zenaidae and 
rosenbachiana from Harongan, Tadjikistan.

The Seed Site is done in the U.K. by an unnamed individual.  It is 
very well organized.  There are photos of seeds and seedlings which 
are very useful, particularly if you happen to lose a label, or get 
an incorrectly-identified lot of seeds, or if you're not sure whether 
what you've got coming up in your pots are what they're supposed to 
be or weeds.

There is also a chart of how long seeds have taken to germinate. Only 
the successful ones are listed. Seeing how long some of the iris take 
to germinate has reassured me that I've not necessarily done 
something wrong.  I. bucharica - 412 days, orientalis - 753 days.
