I wish now I'd taken more photos of it, but it
didn't hit me til just today that it could be my missing I
perrieri.
It bloomed on May 20th, but I had lots of other
iris also blooming, so probably did the best I could and moved on. I
recall it did have rather dainty foliage and bloom stalks, more like a
short MTB.

I have not grown I. perrieri myself, but from what I have read
I think you may be right about this being it. It's basically a diploid relative
of I. aphylla. Although the photo doesn't show the whole plant, I can see that
the branching is there, and the bloom is similar to aphylla, although a little
lighter and more dainty than usual, which would make sense.

who has grown it can make a positive ID for you.
