I have recieved mislabeled seeds and plants for years and do not feel badly although some errors are rather egregious. Certainly a siberian seed looks nothing like an Iris darwasica seed with its aril. For some years I have been taking pictures of seeds (many are on the SIGNS website) and trying to find ways of creating a usable key for identification. After some study I have discovered there is more variability than one would expect in seeds even from a single species. I do believe it is possible to create a rather crude key which I am working on for the Iris Encyclopedia but I do not believe there are sufficient gross anatomical characters to sort the species except perhaps to their section or series.
----- Original Message ----- I also noticed that 09MS254 were spuria seeds and am looking forward to see what plants result. Mine started sprouting this fall.
