I am reporting germination on November 20 of seeds of Iris persica, and Iris tuberosa, received last season from SIGNA, and planted January 24, 2011. The seeds were sown as received on a loose organic medium--peat moss, peanut shells, pine fines, etc.-- in small pots, and simply left on the table on the deck. This makes them exactly contemporary with germination of my earliest Helleborus xhybridus seedlings. At the time of germination, we had had several nights in the 30s, but no hard freeze.
