Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever had cristata eaten by deer, though they've definitely eaten lacustris so it might be a coincidence. I'd say deer-resistant, at least once the clump is established so that minor damage isn't fatal. Most of the severe damage done to my irises of any species by deer has been caused by accidentally pulling new plants out of the ground.
