Re: Seed Exchange

In that case I will send Walter a few more sets of seed I forgot I had collected. This was a terrible year iris-wise for me. *Most* of my Laevigatae, Tripetalae, Hexagonae and Prismaticae (potted pond plants but heeled into the ground for winter) were completely eaten by rodents during the winter due to abnormally good snow cover - I lost several dozen plants including every fulva, hexagona, tridentata, prismatica and laevigata. Then I wasn't home for much of the bloom season so I didn't produce much seed or get to do any hybridizing.

Hello everyone,

I asked our seed exchange chair, Walter Pickett, how things are shaping up.  He says he has about 100 seed lots in hand, 50 more expected soon, and expects the total number of submissions to be about the same as last year, or just over two hundred seed lots.  That’s a little disappointing, since last year’s total was so much lower than previous years, due to all the uncertainty.  So I’d like to remind you all to send in your seeds, if you haven’t already, and help us get back to where we should be!
