Re: General garden catalogs

'Zebra' seems to tolerate heat better during the summer as opposed to 'Argentea'. the best growth on 'Argentea' in our climate seems to be those plants that have part shade in the summer. Really both can be somewhat tricky here and often require extra care to get them to increase and not suffer the dwindles. I am sure that the answers are multifactorial.

Thanks Bob,

I'll make a note of it in my files. :-)

I'd noticed that the green/yellow form did well just about anywhere in the
garden while the green/white one needed good, very well drained soil in as
much sun as possible. Even then, it never has done as well as the
yellow-striped one. Could ph be part of the puzzle?

and green and 'Argentea' is the variegated form that is white and green. The
name 'Zebra' was popularized by Lloyd Austin in the 60's for what is
legitimately registered as 'Pallida Variegata'.
