Iris danfordiae 2nd bloom, long wait

I was patient enough to get an Iris danfordiae to rebloom. It took 5
years. That's a long wait for a cheap plentiful bulb, but I was curious
to see if I could do it. Fertilizer and deep planting is supposed to
help keep the bulb from replacing itself with lots of tiny bulbs. Maybe
I'll experiment with that. Has anyone tried it?
