Re: Iris Wiki News

The goal is to have as complete an encyclopedic reference as is possible. From experience I know there is nothing more frustrating than to encounter a name someplace and then not be able to find anything about it. It is better to have information like, stock destroyed never introduced, than nothing. The knowledge lets one know that there is no need to keep searching for something that does not exist. Although I am certain that most people in the beginning will use the wiki to learn about current irises it will also be an historical archive for future research. I look forward to seeing many pictures and any added comments. This project has captured the imagination of many people and I suspect in two or three years we will see marvelous things come about that will make irises very interesting to the horticultural world. Best wishes Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for making me a docent.

Are you sure you want a list of all our irises? And include those that were registered, but never introduced? We have introduced 353 varieties and have about five or so that were only registered.

I am begining to create a topic pages for hybridizers. They would have a very short biography and then list all the irises they have produced. Each Iris will be linked to its cultivar page for description and photos. If you would have a list of all of your and Tonys hybrids It would make my life easier in creating the page that celebrates your achievements.
