potting mix for juno, scorpio

Hello, I'm new to "the group" and have some persica galactica sari and paradoxa seed to germinate, marcus harvey (hillview rare plants) in tasmania has been more than helpful and recommended a grainy gritty potting mix, sow dusted (fungicide) seed, cover lightly with same, then cover with 4mm gravel chips, leave out in partial shade and wait. does any one out there have anything else to recommend, (and why), I just don't want to fail, I'll leave the next issue of how to construct a bulb frame till later. thanks alice
