Re: nettle purine

Jose Luis Couso,

To some the stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) is a dreadful weed, to others it is a miracle plant and healing herb, not to forget a host plant for a small butterfly.
This nettle is probably widespread in Europe and used a lot! Using a slurry or tea on plants being eaten by bugs, it can deter some insects, but will not kill them, just keep them off because of the smell. To keep cats or the fox out of a seedling bed, fresh stalks laid on the bed will prevent the 'critters' from walking on the seedlings, but the the branches have to be replaced every evening! There are many uses for stinging nettle, one weed I keep in the garden, but it does need control!

I looked this one up. I don't think it's "purine" as in the class of chemicals, rather it's nettle "tea" or in french, "purin d'ortie". "Purin" translates as "manure" or "slurry" or maybe "puree". It's actually fermented nettle tea.

What does it say on package? Is that is name of product?

Nettle, in a drink, is used to remove purines and uric acid in people
suffering from gout.

Purines are primarily found in meats, (Very low in plant prod! ucts) and
are used as dietary supplements in various forms.

Hi Guys, could anybody tell me who has tried nettle purine as a
pesticide and fertilizer if it is good for all irises or only,
some of them.
I would want to use it because it is natural, easy and cheap or at
least for me here in my area on the spanish atlantic coast where you
can find meadows of nettles in the countryside
Thanks
