The WCSP considers those 60+ names to be synonyms as per the current consensus. The Plant List used to be similar until its recent update. Interestingly, it's the Missouri Botanical Garden database (Tropicos) that's providing the weird data. If you ignore most iris entries marked TRO you're good.
