Re: Iris Ignominy

Iris names in single or double quotes in emails cause me a problem as do species names where "Iris" is abbreviated with "I."

Often I copy the name of a plant from the body of an email and paste the name as the JPG file name of a picture associated with that email. My computer considers quotes, periods and a number of characters an invalid name for files. So they cannot be easily used in a cut and paste technique. Too, I expect using the single quotes in registration lists may cause the same inconvenience for others.

Capitalizing the first name or setting the name in bold type format in a species or registered cultivar name would seem a more viable convention to adopt in today's computer world.
