Re: what's your favorite?

Yesterday & today I was checking out some of the locations of some of
the SIGNA seed donations.

Quite a few of Todd Bowlands donations of versicolor and hookeri come
from the most extreme eastern edge of all of North America... the east
coast of Newfoundland. I've always thought "edge" populations are
particularly intriguing as they are simply not in the middle of all the
genetic material flowing around... if that makes any sense.

Another donation / location that made me go "whoa!" was #08TR206....
Iris setosa from Sakhalin Island. I never heard of that island so I
looked it up on Google. Basically it's a huge island between mainland
Russia and Kamchatka. It just seemed like yet another exciting "edge"
population. Even though I really have no idea of the population
distribution. It just got me excited to learn something new. :-)

*sigh* I guess these winter temps make me bored enough to do this kind
of research. LOL.

Hope y'all are staying warm,
Dennis in Ohio (tomorrow's high is forecasted to be 25 deg F... same
again the next day)
