Very nice, Filippo,
we are still at freezing temps in Cologne. No sign of anything here.
Will you be doing some selfings of thos plants, or at least sib crosses? I would like to get some seed for chromosome counts of the populations.

Hello everybody,
here is Iris bicapitata (the purple one) which is blooming from October
but eachtime with just a few, till now. Today several flowers together
thanking the sunny and mild days which are spring-flavoured.
This is the standard color but it's only one of the 10 different colors
I had till now. Unfortunately the other clones are not blooming as I
had them the past October...Maybe in the spring, I hope.
Scented, showy, extra-long blooming time, several colors, hardy and
fast growing. What should we ask more than this? :-)
There is Iris pseudopumila blooming in these days too (the greenish
one). It's an early blooming species but earlier then pumila, attica
and others.
This is from the apulian population which is not so yellow like the
sicilian one. In Sicily is almost simple to find purple populations,
although in Apulia there are just a few purple plants. So, this species
bears two distinct and geographically far ranges which are different by
number of purple clones and intensity of the yellow color (the apulian
is more green then yellow). Plus, the sicilian yellow forms shows
frequently an intense purple spot on the falls, but apulian has brown
falls with light purple shade.
I hope you'll like them.
