Yes.

And after reading that article, I did some further reading in Garden
Irises, published by the American Iris Society. It includes an
article on propagation by L.F. Randolph. He addresses the problem of
delayed germination, and he also explains how to culture embryos.
That will be next for me, though when I think of how frequently fruit
goes mouldy in my kitchen, maybe I don't have a sterile enough
environment for it.
