Sean,
Though few species survived a 3-year period of
neglect and drought in my garden, and there was room for even fewer in the
"water feature" Cliff & I put in 2 years ago, the following list of
irises were potted and spent the entire 2 winters there. All of them love
it.
Our "water feature" is an old water trough, roughly
1,000 gallons, with a cosmetic cedar facing. It sits on top of the ground with a
stock tank heater in addition to the recycling pump for the comfort of the
goldfish. Meltwater and rain are channeled in via a catch system tied to the
rain gutters on the house. Last winter we dropped to the -20s but we had more
than our share of snow. The fountain in the pond resembled a mini-water-volcano.
Assorted LAs including Black Gamecock (I'll need to
wait for the others to bloom before an identification is possible)
I. fulva dwarf
'Alley Oops' (from a few starts this has increased
to the point where it's trying to climb the sides of the 18"
pot)
'Chance Beauty' and 2 of her seedlings
I. pseudacorus
'Jin Yu'
'Holdens Child'
