Re: Re: Pseudacorous seeds

Dykes was very knowledgeable about iris. He writes "This Iris is distributed over the whole of Europe. It extends also to North Africa, Asia Minor and as far east as the Caucasus, and even possibly into Siberia. "

Iris maackii is also a yellow-flowered member of the Laevigatae series found in China. Some have speculated that it is an imported variety of I. pseudcorus; Zhao Yu-tang considered it to be a separate native species distinct from the non-native I. pseudocorus that now grows in China.

I've found no references claiming I. pseudacorus is native to North America.

Is there any real documentation on when (if) pseudacorus was introduced to this continent? Are you 100% sure it isn't a native? :-?
