I never counted the flowers on one stem.  But I'd easily believe mine had 100 flowers per stem, average.  Lots of flowers.  And this was with no particular care, not even watering, once they were established.  The only care they got was I didn't hit them with the mower.  So with good care, 400 might be possible.

They were in a shallow ditch where there was more water than on the rest of the fam.

This was in central Kansas.

Mine were from a packet of Candy lilies from Parks, about 1985.  They looked much like your picture.  There was some variation in color from plant to plant.

I moved from there about 1990, and took nothing but my arils and ABs.

Sean,

       I wondered that myself – if the multiple Iris domestica comes true from seed.  It does look though like it would propagate from division.  As for the Iris x norrisii, I wonder if those are really getting 400 buds on a stem?  Also, I wonder how they would do in the far south?   Shown is a Candy Iris I have down here.  It is a survivor from some seed from Christy Hensler some years back.  I have several plants of this.  Today, I got some seed from SIGNA – trying for more colors.
