Thank you Mark, Dietes is not an Iris, but the picture looks much like a cross between I. unguicularis v. album x I. unguicularis. The only other iris from the northern coastline of Africa is the Scorp/juno iris I. planifolia. To ‘another note’ – we are promissed a snowstorm in the coming 12 ours, we can expect 30-40 cm. Snow. It would be the first really snow this Winter. Everything has been blowing and raining around today – I have been in the garden cowering all my pots again. Med venlig hilsen / Kind regards Lars Høpfner Langengen 38, Svogerslev 4000 Roskilde Denmark Fra: iris-species@yahoogroups.com [mailto:iris-species@yahoogroups.com] På vegne af Mark Cook Lars, Sean, The botanical name is Dietes. I should have clarified that. Yes, it is growing directly in pure sand. Gardening here is like trying to grow things on a beach. On another note, it looks like tonight will be the first of four straight freeze nights. Mark A.
