Officially that was true you did have to be an AIS member. For a while there were two tiers: voting and non-voting (i.e. AIS and non AIS). Now only officers are required to be members.

Rodney; I joined in 1980, It would have been 1979, but I was told at the time you had to be an AIS member first.
