Yes, it is worth the wait. I have bought bulbs if I. histrio a couple times in the past, but growing a plant from seed is rewarding. I still have a bulb from Paul Christian that I bought a couple years ago; it bloomed last year. I'm saving pollen to see if that plant blooms again this year; leaves are showing, but no bud yet.

In 2009 I obtained seeds ofÂIris histrio subsp. histrio from J & J Archibald Seeds labeled Ex Turkey, Hatay, W of KiÅlak. Yesterday the first flower opened. I'm attaching a photo.
