Re: Vic -- Easter Tide out of season blooms

Interesting.  I did some research on my own and found that only one of it's 24 Registered descendants reblooms as reported by the RIS, 'Great White Hope' .  I'll also note that 'Jeri', the other parent of 'Great White Hope' also has no Registered descendants that have been reported to rebloom and does not rebloom itself.

All that doesn't really mean anything conclusive.  Rebloom in LA's is a less common occurance but potential/ability to has increased over time with new cultivars.  As in TB's it takes the right combination of genes, gene variants, climate and environment to allow a fan to rebloom.  There is also no guarantee that a strong reloomer will produce reblooming children as well as some weak rebloomers produce children with stronger triggers.

The two attached photos of taken on 12/17/15 & 12/23/15 show out-of-season blooms by the Louisiana Iris ‘Easter Tide.’  I have four planting of this variety; two of these plantings have thrown a bloom stalk.  They have been blooming from 12/17/15 through 1/1/16.  I have had this variety since 2005 and never before have had out of season blooms.  From a somewhat-quick review of the literature and queries to other growers, I have found no mention of out of season blooms by ‘Easter Tide.’
