I would have enjoyed seeing the photos, but they haven't arrived yet.
Maybe they're still on their way.
I haven't grown tigridias for a while, but should. The ones I
planted did well, and came up and bloomed every year for a long time.
They might have given up when nearby shrubs grew larger and shaded
them out.
Montbretia (Crocosmia) needs summer water. Most of the South African
plants North Americans grow outside come from a summer rainfall area.
Some grow at the edges of streams. After seeing a book with large
pictures of South African scenes, I realized why all my South African
plants kept dying - I had thought they required dry conditions, so I
had planted them where I grow native and Mediterranean plants. Now
I've got them planted right next to the sprinklers in an
automatically irrigated area. They do fine now.
