RE: Sprouting MTBs?

If they are diploids, wash them for a week.  Put them in jars of water and change the water daily.  It will make them more likely to germinate the first year.   You are washing out the germination inhibitor.

Subject: [iris-species] Sprouting MTBs?

Greetings, All.

I have quite a few MTB seed pods in my garden and would like to try growing them out. Seems to me I once heard that seeds could be planted immediately after ripening, and some might even sprout before winter. Anyone have any experience with that?  Any other recommendations for growing MTB seedlings with a minimum of fuss?

Sincere thanks,

Dorothy
