Dennis I am somewhat confused. Certainly if one wants an ecosystem that resembles some less man dominated time it would be worth removing the pseudacorus from the preserve that you have been discussing. But if you introduce <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Ohio versicolors into the area and they were not there previously than is that any more ?natural? than having the pseudacorus there.

I couldn't give a more emphatic YES!!!  But that's just a personal opinion.  There are no records to support that tulip trees ever grew in my subdivision at any point back through the mists of time, but I'd sooner plant that "native" in my yard than a Japanese maple.  It's a locally indigenous plant that would support locally indigenous wildlife.  Whether it "belongs" in my yard is pure speculation & opinion.  Same with the versicolor in that bog.
