Al, I have no knowledge of your growing conditions and little knowledge of ensata. That being said, here I often encounter a situation where over time the light level and amount of direct sun a plant receives decline over time as the canopy and size of surrounding trees increase. As they do so, heretofore washed out color tints appear more intense and remain visable longer. One day we just say wow! I never saw that before. We are not likely  lookin' up to see what may have happened, payin' more attention to soil and stuff close to the subject.

May or may not parallel your situation. This time of year down here we are just thankful for shade irrespective of color tints. Any shade. Been hittin' mid 90's.

Smiles,
Bill Burleson
