blue-eyed grass and borers

This is the first I've heard of blue eyed grass being a conduit for borers
I consider it a weed of the first order, and still can't resist letting a
clump or two stay until after bloom in spring, but have not noticed borer
activity in beardeds in it's vacinity.
And speaking of borer, has anyone had experience using Merit against borer?
