Chances of either of these crosses working is a long shot (never say "impossible"!).
 
If chrysographes isn't perfectly hardy for you and you'd like something that looks like it, you might try crossing to a hardy Sino-Sib hybrid. There are no guarantees on what the kids might look like since a number of the Sino species are involved, but I have a dark seedling that would increase the odds of getting something close.
 
She's about 4 years old this season and has sailed through -29 as well as 100 degree heat. Good increase and wonderfully fertile.
