Re: Vic -- Iris tridentata -- Emailing: CIMG0445.JPG

Victor,

Any chance of you introducing a white I. tridentata someday. Some of us
drool at the thought.

In the SIGNA Checklist, copyright 2006, I see only two cultivars of Iris
tridentata listed:

Pee Dee Amethyst, unregistered dark violet clone introduced by Ursula Herz
TRIPETALA ALBA, introduced by the New York Botanical Garden in 1930

It seems to me that this is a species with lots of underutilized
potential! The only other iris blooming this late for me are Iris
brevacaulis and the Pixie Won.

I started some pollen dabbing last year with this species. I have three
(of my nine) clones from SIGNA 03Q227 in the kitchen doing some crosses.
I'm also using a clone from Joe Pye Weed's garden in 2000. It is outside
in large oak barrels that don't move much. This species seems quite easy
to keep alive.

Ken
