Re: Comments on my postings on Iris tridentata Ken, You asked are there any problems with the tubs freezing in the winter. It gets down into the teens some winters here in Crawfordville, Florida and the water surface in the tubs may freeze. However, the tubs and I. tridentata come through fine. You also asked about growing I. virginica and I. pseudacorus in no-drainage tubs. I grown both in no-drainage tubs and they love it. The only thing I do differently with these species is that I add fertilizer usually once a year. Ken Walker, I agree that I. tridentata is a species with lots of unused potential. I have been meaning to register several of my I. tridentata clones. I like the white-flowered clone, but I also like the dark-blue flowered one very much. I also have several other clones that I believe have garden potential. I expect to get around to introducing a few of the I. tridentata clones I grow. Vic |
