That's a beautiful iris!  I looked through the lists as far back as 1997 but couldn't find a listing for I. variegata "white form" by any donor.  There were several donations of this species by Harald from '97 to '01, but they just say hand pollinated or viareigata var. pontica.

This was grown several years ago--no problems, sowed the seed when I got it and left it out on the deck through the remaining winter months--and up she came and kept on coming. I added the mature plant to the collection at the Center for Historic Plants in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, where I was revamping the historic Iris collection, and adding a few species. The attached photo was taken there.
 
It was identified on the sales list as Iris variegata "white form" and I as I recall Mathes was the donor. This would have been within the last decade, so that you may be able to determine its little provenace, if you can find the right list.
