Re: Pos. Spuria

Yes, definitely a spuria. I'm terrible with IDing the species though. Why do people say they don't grow there? Spurias are tough!

I found 5 large clumps of this iris growing in front of our local
Performing Arts Center in Los Alamos, NM. It appears to grow there
with little or no extra water and little care. Altitude here is 7,300
ft. Rainfall is on average 16 inches per year. Winters can be quite cold
-- we have a ski basin within 15 minutes from here.

I am guessing this is a spuria iris. It is approximately 40 inches
tall. Am I correct? Would it be a species or a hybrid? Does anyone
recognize it ?

Most people think spuria iris don't grow here.

Thanks for any info you might have about this plant.
