Winter damage

Got my first good look at the bearded beds. About half of last year acquisitions were gone.  Most were Ensmingers iris that I couldn't wait to see. It's a bigger gamble than the stock market.
 
A number of last years seedlings are gone, but I can reserve judgment until later. The reticulatas and crocus I put in last fall have not come up yet, but the older crocus are only an inch tall.  
 
I guess the snow and ice, plus below freezing during the day and single digits at night have done a lot in. The camellia is all brown, prostate abelia are in bad shape.
